Bree Hranek is a walking contradiction.
A true Gemini. Innocent and Vulgar. An exhibitionist, but shy.
Funny, but can't take being laughed at. She graduated from Pratt
Institute with her MFA in Painting
and Drawing and received her BA in Painting at San Diego State
University. She enjoys watching trash
TV and surfing the crap-tastic internet. Here she finds the images
that she puts together, mixes in her
personal experiences, and draws them into even more ridiculous
scenarios.
The power of Bree's art is the honesty of the work. She will
find the horrible and absurd and at the same
time understand that these things are fun, even erotic, for some.
There is no judgment, only an
exploration of the hidden lives many people camouflage with normalcy.
In this exhibit, Bree covers such
a wide range of topics that skitter around the social norms…Masking,
Goths, Roman Showers, Scat,
Geriatrics, Menstruation, Ted Bundy, even the Twilight Saga!
Through it all, Bree holds our hand and
leads us down the path of the voyeur. |
