"To Avoid Fainting..." The Horror Legacy of Wes Craven - A Group Art Exhibit - Wes Craven has been feeding our collective horror consciousness since 1972, when his first feature, "The Last House on the Left," debuted. That film was gritty, raw and terrifying, it still causes a guttural reaction some 40 years later. In his career, Wes has created some of the most memorable moments in horror cinema, from the torture scene in "The Serpent and the Rainbow," to the Johnny Depp's explosive scene in "A Nightmare on Elm Street," to the first glimpse of Michael Berryman's savagery in "The Hills Have Eyes." He has given us iconic characters like Freddy Krueger and Ghostface and at times he has completely rewritten the genre. Each new film only adds to his legacy and ever increasing fan base. The films of Wes Craven have influenced scores of film makers, writers, and artists. The horror/art connection was even acknowledged by Wes when he included the work of a number of Hyaena artists in 2011's "Scream 4." We figured it was time to pay tribute to the man whose vision has inspired so many in the dark art community. The art featured here is a pure celebration of horror, created by fans, to honor a director who has continuously fueled our nightmares. Thank you, Wes Craven.
