"The Genesee River Killer" (born June 6th, 1945) Shawcross is a US serial killer, who claimed the majority of his victims after being released on parole, 10 years short of his 25-year manslaughter sentence. A Vietnam War vet with a ninth grade education, Shawcross had confessed - following his arrest - to raping and killing 8-year-old, Karen Ann Hill. Only four months prior, he had strangled a 10-year-old boy to death after luring him into a wooded area. With little evidence in their hands, prosecutors compromised by charging Shawcross for the Hill murder, allowing the self-proclaimed twice child killer to get off scott free for the crimes against young Jake Blake. Just one year after his early release, Shawcross relocated and began an aggressive assault on area prostitutes. He is believed to have murdered 11 women during his spree; in most cases, beating and strangling his victims, and then mutilating the corpses. He often disposed of their bodies by the Genesee River. After the detectives' discovery of the final victim - taking their cue from a profiler - they decided to leave the body undisturbed so they could stake out the crime scene incase the culprit returned. Sure enough, they got their man when Shawcross was sighted on a bridge over the creek where he'd dumped his latest victim. He was found seated in his parked car, masturbating. The Genesee River Killer was taken in and eventually charged for 10 of the murders, receiving 250 years after a jury failed to buy his pleas of insanity. He later plead guilty to the second-to-last slaying, which had taken place in a neighboring county, receiving an additional life sentence. Shawcross has claimed to have murdered and cannibalized two girls during his tour in Vietnam. In 2003, he also boasted of having sliced out and consumed the vaginas of at least three of his victims.
