- The Creep - 1977 - Spawned from the depths of the Inland Empire, in between two beautifully toxic bodies of water (Lake Elsinore and the Salton Sea), The Creep grew up a cartoon & horror movie junkie and all-around fan of the stranger things in life…and his work reflects that. With no art schooling beyond a high school career, he decided to go the “lone wolf” outsider artist route. So here he is today, a vigilante lowbrow artist on a mission from God... or Satan. I can’t remember. If you like the Munsters, rock & roll, rat rods, 50s & 60s camp and just generally F’d up things, then enjoy. TRASH! The Creep's current show - "Trash!" - is a collection of paintings that explores the blurred boundaries between male and female and the arbitrary gender roles assigned to us. Inspired by issues of gender bending and exploitation, he presents traditional types alongside subjects that do not fit neatly into any category. The result is an assortment of femme fatales, drag queens, and good 'ole fashioned sex and violence - all displayed through a lens of pop culture and pastel colors. Whether you are a man who enjoys the feel of nylon stockings on his legs, or you're a woman who owns her sexuality and isn't ashamed of it, we've all been called trash at some point and this show celebrates that individuality.
