- Michael Carbonaro - Twenty-six year old Michael Carbonaro is a self- taught oil painter who shows immense promise in the dark, fine art realm. With roots in both New York and LA, Michael's artistic aesthetic summons the simultaneous beauty and the filth that is found in every metropolitan heart. There is a raw, primitive energy to his work, an honesty and vulnerability that shines amidst the darker chaotic elements. His paintings reveal personal demons which are exposed and explored until they bleed from the pigments, revealing truths...hints of enlightenment. The Sabbat is a rite, a ritual necessary with the changing of seasons. It is an assemblage to celebrate the artist's journey to this point in time. Michael Carbonaro is the artist and the body of work he has brought for us shows a return to an almost primal state. Influences are cast aside as personal experience and sacrifice bring a beautiful raw feeling to every piece. If you think of each painting as a spell, there are subtle nuances that appear within the work which talk about accepting fear, enduring pain, and manipulating sin and temptation to gain control and ultimately find comfort.
