Burbank is a unique city. On the surface it is such a normal place, but as soon as you start digging and exploring you find this beautiful underbelly of creativity and strangeness. Hyaena opened in Burbank for this very reason. In 12 years, we've seen the city change from having a handful of spooky shops (Dark Delicacies, Hyaena, & Halloween Town...I'll even include Sun Valley's Dapper Cadaver here) to having a virtual horror corridor of fantastic small businesses. Newer additions like Bearded Lady/Mystic Museum, the return of Creature Features, the Crooked Path, and Hilary's Vanity added to the weird, dark, wonderful vibe resonating throughout Burbank...keeping in step with the other great, funky mom & pop stores in the neighborhoods. Sadly, though, small businesses are being pushed out everywhere you look. Creature Features is now counted among the casualties of landlord greed and rent increases, and the other small businesses in Burbank and its beloved Magnolia Park are danger, too. We need to support our local small businesses now more than ever. Let's get together and Keep Burbank Spooky.
