Fantasy Masters

Frazetta, Boris, Stout, Kelly - these are the artists that first inspired my love of art. They were the ones whose artwork sent my young mind off into new realms, hungry to explore their fantastic realms. To me, these artists are godlike…untouchable superstars with unparalleled talent. Their paintings still captivate me with the same intensity as when I first encountered them.

Hyaena had the good fortune of stumbling upon a small collection of work from these and other Fantasy Masters. This art comes from someone who was deeply involved in printing fantasy lithographs and calendars for these artists in the seventies. Some of the work is unusual in that it consists of layered CMYK proofs on transparencies that were used in the actual printing process. Each piece makes for a very cool, interesting artifact of the times, since now most tasks of this nature are at least partially done digitally.
